Studio Soundproofing

Chris Meyer of Pro Audio Coalition wrote a couple of very interesting articles tracking his adventures in improving the audio in his studio.

The first article chronicles how Chris makes simple changes to his studio to cut down on reverb and improve the overall sound.

The second is a series of audio files comparing several different microphones.

What I really like about these articles is how he takes us through his thought process, explaining what he’s done, including pictures as well as sound bites so we can hear the difference his changes have made.

We are in the process of re-doing our studio here at Telestream. We had panels of foam tacked to the walls that we used for soundproofing, which we discovered was quite a fire hazard! We now need to consider some alternative solutions for improving the sound in what amounts to little more than a storage closet we’re using for a ScreenFlow studio. Chris had quite a few nice ideas that popped out that could help us.

Thanks Chris!
